
Spring Equinox Medicine Wheel Ceremony
The Medicine Wheel Ceremony is symbol of holistic teachings based on the cycles of nature. Drumming and prayers are shared at this event.
Who: All are welcome to join elders Phil Mechuskosis L’Hirondelle (Nehiyaw (Cree) and British Heritage) and Gisele L’Hirondelle (Metis from New Brunswick) from ‘All My Relations Teachings’ to celebrate the Spring Equinox and to usher in the new season. Where: Enter through the Visitor Centre admissions desk. Please arrive 15 – 20 minutes early to allow yourself enough time to walk up to the Medicine Wheel area near the Canadian Heritage Garden and the maze. Maps are available at the admissions desk. The event takes place outdoors, please dress for the weather.
What to bring:
- A portable chair or blanket to sit on
- A small stone(s) to infuse prayers into and to leave at the Medicine Wheel
- Optional: Food to share with community at the end of the ceremony, and/or a drum if you have one
