Taking Flight: Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration Opening Event

Vancouver All British Field Meet Classic Car Show

Saturday, May 18 10.00am - 4.30pm

The Vancouver All British Field Meet (ABFM) returns to VanDusen Botanical Garden on May 18 for their annual British car show on the Great Lawn. Presented by Hagerty, expect to see nearly 500 cars in 62 different classes. The event will also feature live entertainment, food trucks, vendor booths, merchandise for sale, high tea options and more. event ticket is required to access the event area.

Veggies for Year-Round Harvest (Online)

The end of summer doesn’t mean the end of your edibles! Join Jennifer Lipka to learn the essentials for continuous harvest this winter and discover some of the best varieties for cooler weather. Look at design ideas for diverse growing spaces and conditions to help you develop a winter plan for your space, and work on some plant combinations to try out at home.

Eco-printing on Paper (Online)

Eco-printing is the technique of transferring the colour, shape, and details of plant material onto paper by using heat. With Czarina Lobo’s guidance, we will experiment with different plant materials, learn which are best, make bundles in various ways, and end with stitching a beautiful booklet.

This family-friendly workshop will open up a whole world of creativity, as you can use the same techniques on other fibers.

Intro to Houseplant Care (Online)

There has never been a better time to get more greenery into your home. Join Alexandria Thompson of Figaro’s Garden to learn the basics of indoor plant care. This class will introduce the top considerations for houseplant success. Learn how to select and care for indoor plants based on your growing conditions, including; light exposure, humidity, soil, and pest control. Alexandria will provide a foundation for identifying general care based on plant families and their characteristics and hands-on demonstrations with her house plants.

Boozy Botanical Blends (Online)

It’s summer! What better time to broaden your entertaining toolkit with some botanical cocktails?

Creative Cocktail Consulting’s Cole Benoit will discuss botanicals you can grow in your home garden for cocktails and ideas for using and preserving them for optimal flavour. Cole will guide you to create your own sample cocktails at home, made with summer-inspired botanical ingredients; we’ll also discuss home bar basics such as tools and techniques to get started.
