Visiting the Gardens!

Starting January 1, 2022, all tickets will be sold on site for both VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory.

Members can simply scan in their membership cards at both VanDusen and Bloedel for entry.

Learn about the Covid-19 safety measures being taken at VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory Proof of vaccination is required for certain facilities, events and programming.

 

 

2022 Speaker Series: Gardening in the Elizabethan Era

In this talk, Spencer W. Stuart will discuss one of the first books published in English on gardening, Thomas Hill’s ‘A Most Briefe and Pleasaunte Treatise, Teaching How to Dresse, Sowe, and Set a Garden’ (1563).

Spring Break Camps at VanDusen Botanical Garden are full-day outdoor camps that allow children to learn about the natural environment through engaging hands-on activities, games, crafts, and experiments!

Watercolour: Holiday Cards (Online)

Thursday, December 2 2021 10:00am - 12:00pm

Be inspired by winter garden features such as amaryllis, snowberries, poinsettia, holly, and more as we create miniature works of art as greeting cards. Susan Pearson will demonstrate a variety of techniques such as creating patterns, quick and simple impressions, wet on dry and wet into wet, as well as fine detailed realism. Some painting experience is recommended.

Winter Plant ID (Online)

Thursday, December 9 2021 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Botanist Latifa Pelletier-Ahmed joins the VBGA to teach about winter plant identification. You will learn about woody and evergreen perennials that can be found in VanDusen Botanical Garden and around the Lower Mainland. Learn about key winter identification features, including bark, buds, and evergreen leaves. A Garden map will be provided to guide you to find highlighted plants in VanDusen Botanical Garden at your leisure (admission sold separately).

Creative Photography 1 (In-Person)

Sunday, December 12 2021 10:00am - 3:00pm

Enjoy the beautiful setting of the Garden while you hone your photography skills. Melissa H. Clark will discuss the most important principles of what makes a great photograph, such as space, emphasis, rhythm, variety, and more. You will be guided through practical exercises and spend plenty of time in the Garden to practice and explore your creativity. Gain valuable input in a feedback session, and finish class feeling more confident.
