Taking Flight: Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration Opening Event

Vancouver All British Field Meet Classic Car Show

Saturday, May 18 10.00am - 4.30pm

The Vancouver All British Field Meet (ABFM) returns to VanDusen Botanical Garden on May 18 for their annual British car show on the Great Lawn. Presented by Hagerty, expect to see nearly 500 cars in 62 different classes. The event will also feature live entertainment, food trucks, vendor booths, merchandise for sale, high tea options and more. event ticket is required to access the event area.

Watercolour Poetry

Thursday, February 2 2023 10.00am - 12.30pm

Winter is coming to an end soon, and it is time to paint images of new growth in the garden with artist and illustrator Susan Pearson. This 6-week series of demonstrations of mixing colour for our Palette emulate the tones and values we see around us. Snowdrops, branches, winter skies and landscapes.

From wet into wet impressions to realistic details, Susan will share her knowledge of techniques through exciting exercises and painting projects.

Chigiri-e Paper Art

Wednesday, February 8 2023 1.30pm - 4.00pm

Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form using pieces of hand-dyed washi paper to create beautiful and detailed images. The result resembles a watercolour painting with a delicate texture. In this hands-on, creative art workshop, you will practice handcrafting skills, learn step-by-step Chigiri-e paper techniques and create two art pieces. Supplies included.

Family Birdwatching & the Great Backyard Bird Count!

Bring the whole family and learn how to get involved in taking action to support wild birds! The Great Backyard Bird Count brings thousands of bird lovers together around the globe to help scientist count local bird populations before the massive spring migration.

We’ll start the day with an introduction to birdwatching, practice our skills in the Garden on a bird walk, and review how you can participate at home in the Great Backyard Bird Count between February 17th- 20th.
