Taste of the Garden Series at Shaughnessy Restaurant

Tuesday, November 30

Each week Shaughnessy Restaurant’s Chef Matthew Phillip will be creating dishes utilizing fresh ingredients harvested from VanDusen’s vegetable garden.

A rotating menu with produce, botanicals, and herbs will be highlighted to inspire what local, urban, sustainable cuisine is all about.

Grow Your Own Microgreens (Online)

Saturday, July 3 10:00am - 11:30am

Microgreens can be grown at home year-round! Learn the difference between microgreens, sprouts, and baby greens – and the required growing conditions for them.

In this online class, you will gain an understanding of the systems and products that you need to grow microgreens at home. Dr. Yael Stav will demonstrate the steps to prepare your own microgreens tray and will provide you with the knowledge and resources to start your own.

Introduction to Birding (Online)

This seasonal favourite is now being offered online by long-time VanDusen birding guide Jeremy Gordon. During this introduction to birding, he will share the best resources such as binoculars and field guides, provide tips on how to identify birds, and highlight hot birding spots in Vancouver. Jeremy will present some of the many species of birds in the Garden, and test your newly acquired ID skills in engaging ways.

Watercolour Series: Summer Herbs (Online)

Join this two part series with an open mind and experimental heart to capture the essence of various summer herbs. Learn to appreciate the unpredictable nature and beauty of watercolour with the guide of artist and illustrator Susan Pearson. From a light touch with delicate pencil lines using controlled washes, bringing washes to clear and sloppy wet washes, this series will use inventive techniques that will help you create subject matter in an encouraging and fun way. All levels of ability are welcome.
