Giving

VanDusen Botanical Garden has many trees available for adoption. The VBGA’s Adopt-a-Tree program provides an opportunity for you to form a personal relationship with a tree that has a special meaning for you in the Garden. Trees may be adopted to remember a loved one or celebrate a significant event. With a donation of $5,000, you can adopt a tree for 10 years.

Including a gift in your will can protect the future of VanDusen & Bloedel.

VanDusen and Bloedel are beloved parts of our community – places of learning, conservation, beauty, and respite. Just as past generations paved the way to the places we enjoy today, your decision to include the Gardens in your will ensures they will continue to thrive for future generations.

A gift in your will is a deeply personal commitment reflecting your passions and values. Whether your gift conserves rare & endangered species, gives people the opportunity to learn at the Gardens, or allows the creation of entirely new features, you are making a difference – to the Gardens, and to our community.

Donating through your will is one of the most impactful and financially effective ways to give. Your estate will receive a full charitable tax receipt, decreasing or even eliminating taxes owed, so you can make a difference while ensuring your loved ones are taken care of.

We are here to help.

Leaving a donation in your will does not have to be complicated. Our team will work with you to ensure your vision for your estate is made possible. Contact us today:

Celebrate the life of a loved one by making a donation in their memory. We can acknowledge your gift with an e-card or letter to the family.

Make a donation to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or wedding, or pay tribute to someone on their special day.

A donation of publicly traded securities (stocks, mutual funds, and bonds) can be one of the best ways to give to the VBGA. When you donate securities directly to us, you can eliminate the capital gains tax and you can give more! Not only do we put to use the full value of your gift but we will also issue you a tax receipt for the full market value of the securities.

This is a great way to give more to your favourite charity without increasing the real cost of your giving.

Before making a donation of securities, we recommend you contact us and your financial advisor to discuss your specific situation. VBGA requires a completed Authority to Transfer letter sign by you. This document will be used to inform VBGA’s financial advisors, CIBC Wood Gundy, of the transfer.
