Experience the harmonizing blend of nature and melodies at Sweet Sounds of Summer. Join us at VanDusen Botanical Garden on July 14 and August 18 for 4 unique concerts across 2 dates featuring talented musicians from various genres.

From the organic sounds of Modern Biology’s music from plants and the vibrant percussions of Kutapira, to the family-folk songs of Clementine & Friends and the trilingual melodies of Ginalina & One Big Family, there’s a concert for all ages and musical tastes.

Artists for Conservation Festival

June Intro to Birding

Saturday, June 15 10:00am - 12:30pm

Long-time VanDusen birding guide Jeremy Gordon presents this seasonal favourite! During this introductory-level class, he will discuss the best birding resources, such as binoculars and field guides, share tips on identifying local and migratory birds, and highlight hot birding spots around Vancouver. Following a one-hour classroom presentation, Jeremy will take you for a walk to look for some of the 106 species of birds in the Garden.

The class is designed for aspiring and beginner bird watchers to help build a foundation of knowledge and gain confidence to get out and go birding this spring.

Peak Perennials in June

Saturday, June 15 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Perennials occupy a unique niche in our gardens: some are tireless workhorses, providing long-season interest, while others offer a short but spectacular show.

During this workshop, we’ll spend our time outdoors exploring the garden—from the Eastern North American to Ornamental Grasses collections—and identifying standout perennials for the summer season. Using the criteria mentioned above for plant selection, you’re sure to discover a few new additions that you’ll be eager to introduce to your own garden.

June Ivy Basket Weaving

Discover the art of crafting baskets and trivets from invasive English ivy. In this hands-on experience, you will learn all the steps of collecting, preparing and weaving ivy.
