New Membership Categories and Fees in 2024

F.A.Q.'s

Q. What has changed in 2024?

  • You will see a new Youth membership for 15-18 year-olds
  • We’ve also updated the names of some of the memberships:
  1. Individual is now: Adult (19+), Senior (65+), or Student (with valid post-secondary ID)
  2. Individual + 1 Child is now: Adult + 1Child/Youth
  3. Individual + 1 Adult is now: Dual Adult, Dual Senior, or Dual Student

We’ve updated the names to make them more descriptive and easier for you to select the membership that best meets your needs.

Q. Why have you increased Membership Fees?
Due to increasing costs, we have increased fees across all categories in 2024 to ensure we can continue to support the Garden with educational programs, nature camps for kids, fundraising, and volunteering, and to provide the best value for members.

Q. When do these new membership fees take effect?
Monday, January 8, 2024

Q: What do I need to do if I already hold a current membership that expires in 2024?
No action is required. When you renew your membership after January 8, 2024, the new fees will apply. There are additional savings when you purchase a Dual membership, e.g., when 2 friends or family members purchase their memberships together (Dual Adult, Dual Senior, Dual Student). Seniors and Students (post-secondary) will continue to enjoy a 15% discount. Plus, you can save an additional 10% when you purchase a 2-year membership.

Q: How do the new VBGA membership fees compare to other comparative organizations?
The purchase of a VBGA membership offers unlimited daily admission to two beautiful locations in Vancouver – VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory, plus an abundance of additional benefits including access and discounts to special events, education programs, nature camps for kids, the Garden Gift shop, and more. The fee increases are modest and continue to be lower than memberships to most attractions and programs in metro Vancouver, including Science World, Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver Art Gallery, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and UBC Botanical Garden.

Q: I am a Senior—do I still receive a discount?
We are pleased to continue to offer both Senior and Student (post-secondary) memberships with a 15% savings off the regular Adult membership. For the discounted rate on the Dual Senior membership, both members must be seniors (65+).

Q: I received a Gift Certificate for Membership prior to January 8, 2024. Can I still redeem the Gift Certificate for that membership even though the fees have increased?
Yes, you can redeem (unexpired) gift certificates purchased prior to January 8, 2024, and receive the full value of the membership it was originally purchased for. There is no additional cost to you or the purchaser unless you choose to purchase a higher value membership when you redeem your gift certificate. Please ensure you bring your gift certificate with you when you come to the Membership Desk at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

Q: I have more questions. Who do I contact?
Please call the Membership Office at 604-257-8675 between 10am – 3pm, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), or email membership@vandusen.org. You are also welcome to visit us at the Membership Desk in the Visitor Centre at VanDusen Botanical Garden during seasonal opening hours.
