Membership Program Updates
Changes to Membership in 2025
As a result of the agreed Joint Operating Agreement signed between the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association (VBGA) and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation in May 2024, there are some changes that Garden Members will see on their next visit to the Garden:
1. Welcome to the Discovery Room!
The Discovery Room in the VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre is now staffed by VBGA Garden Ambassadors (previously called VBGA Member Service Associates). The Discovery Room offers information and registration support for:
- Education at the Garden
- Camps for Kids
- Volunteering
- Donating to the Gardens
- Membership Renewals, Patron Memberships and Group Sales
2. Membership Purchasing Options
Previously, guests had the option of purchasing a Membership at one desk in the VanDusen Garden Visitor Centre. Moving forward, membership purchasing will be available at both desks either side of the Garden entrance in the Visitor Centre. Additionally, memberships can now be purchased in person at Bloedel Conservatory.
These desks are now staffed by Park Board staff. The same great membership service and support will continue to be provided by the VBGA Garden Ambassador team as well as Park Board staff.
2. Membership Name Update
There is a naming change to your membership. Moving forward ‘VBGA Memberships’ are now called ‘Garden Memberships’ and are referred to as such. A Garden Membership is the same product and has the same benefits as the previously named VBGA Membership. All Garden members will continue to automatically be members of the Association and will be able to attend the VBGA AGM and retain their voting privileges.
VBGA is pleased to collaborate more closely with our partners at the Park Board to continue providing a great member and guest experience at the Gardens. Thank you for your continued support!
