Thursday, April 4
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Join us for an exciting two-part series on native plants and their benefits, led by Abigail Hyde from Satinflower Nurseries.
In the first session, explore the difference between native and invasive plants, understanding the crucial role of preserving native species. Abby will cover common plant families and identification tips and showcase local Vancouver Island species as ecocultural case studies, highlighting their resilience against seasonal changes.
The second session focuses on transforming properties, large or small, into native meadows, providing habitats for urban wildlife. Abby will guide you through grass removal, seeding and planting strategies, timing, expectations, and maintenance tips, equipping you with the tools to start your own meadow in areas like lawns, boulevards, and community gardens.
